The size is perfect for a smaller bedroom and the bed seem sturdy. It is not meant for rough housing or very active children. The weight limit is not very high. The laddler rails are tubular and small in diamater. For safety, I think the wide flat wrungs would be much better. Unfortunately, to get those higher weight limits and safety features, you have to buy a more expensive bed which can be hard to do when on a budget. Overall it was a good buy for us and my child loves it.
